Today the Kanturk Community Astro Turf Committee got the great news that Cork County Council had agreed to allocate €20,000 toward the development.
Against the overall cost of the pitch this money is only a starting point but this money means so much to us in that it validates that our project is worthy of an investment which hopefully will help us to open up other doors. This allocation is a vote of confidence from Cork County Council on what we are trying to achieve which is a very exciting project for Kanturk and its hinterland especially with the amount of different groups involved who have come together to try and make it happen.
It may encourage other national departments, groups and organisations to support this Community pitch.
It will also prove to the local general public that local organisations are backing the project and endorsing it which will mean a lot when we decide to go fundraising as we will need widespread support to make it happen.
Its only one step on a long path but the first step is often the hardest so in many ways this step is a vital one and a huge one.
